Shutter Creek Correctional Institute
From 2001 to 2005, SEF provided site evaluation, engineering, surveying, contract documents and construction services for the 200-bed expansion and retrofit of existing site utilities for the rehabilitation of the former Air Force facility. Improvements included minor retaining structures, on-site sanitary system improvements, storm sewer improvements, curb, gutter and widening of existing road system on steep terrain as well as replacing their existing water system and water booster station which included over 2,500 LF of new water main and four pumps. This project was unique in providing for utilization of prison crews for hand trenching for improvements where terrain or structures dictated. SEF was a subconsultant to Arbuckle Costic Architects.
