In 2006, SEF developed a consistent Logging and Transportation System Analysis (LSTA) and GIS mapping techniques that covered all suitable timberlands on the Tongass National Forest, located in Southeast Alaska.  Logging settings and planned road system plans were developed for over 800,000 acres in a period of six months in preparation for updating the Tongass National Forest Plan.  SEF worked with the forest planning team to develop the procedures and attributes to be used to facilitate the forest plan analysis.  SEF put together a team of 15 Logging Engineers to complete this assignment.
